Oregano 4" Pot
Oregano (Origanum vulgare) is a perennial herb in the mint family native to the Mediterranean region. It is a staple in Italian, Greek, and Mexican cuisines, adding its signature bold, earthy flavor to all sorts of dishes. The plant has square, reddish- purple stems that can grow up to 2 feet tall, with small oval shaped leaves. When you crush the leaves, they release an incredibly aromatic, slightly minty- peppery scent. In the summer, oregano produces clusters of small, pink or white flowers at the tips of the stems. These blooms are a magnet for bees and other pollinators. Oregano has a high concentration of essential oils, particularly thymol and carvacol. These compounds are responsible for the herbs distinctive flavor and aroma, as well as its potent antimicrobial and antioxidant properties.
